Let’s Talk About Form!

Join us together with the Finnish Society of Aesthetics for a one day seminar in Otaniemi on Friday 1st December 2017.

The idea of beautiful form haunted early definitions of art. In the 1910s art theorist Clive Bell discussed art as ‘significant’ form. Most contemporary art theorists are reluctant to divide art works into form and content.

Form definitely is a classical topic and a problem of philosophy of art. Lately form has been quite untrendy, though. But what about form and politics? And what can we learn from the role of form in philosophical classics?

Form is a seminar organized by the Finnish Society of Aesthetics (http://www.estetiikka.fi/) and the MA programme VICCA – Visual Culture and Contemporary Art at Aalto University.
